Faith Christain Academy welcomed two new staff members the school year. School started on August 13 with an enrollment of 171 students this year.
Dr. Rachel Hannon is joining FCA as the new Head of School. Dr. Hannon has served in education since 1999 as a classroom teacher across all grade levels and in school administration. Most recently, she served as the head of school at a large Christian school in Powell, Tennessee, where she lived for the past 12 years.
Dr. Hannon completed her PhD in Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Mathematics from University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. She has a passion for missions and has completed short-term trips in several countries and served for two years in Siberia, Russia. As Faith Christian Academy celebrates 35 years of educating and equipping students, Dr Hannon's desire is to see young people grow deeper in their faith and learn to look beyond themselves in an "I"-centric world.
Ron Stalcup joins FCA as Upper School Science teacher. He has been teaching science in Christian school, mostly in the Midwest, for 30 years. A year ago, he decided to move to the Lynchburg area to be closer to family, especially grandkids. He and his wife enrolled their daughters in FCA and began attending First Southern Baptist in Hurt. When the need arose for a science teacher at FCA, Stalcup decided to go back to the classroom. He is excited to be a part of the school and the community.
